LG Electronics settled a new logistics complex in Valle del Cauca

The vicinity with the Buenaventura Port, an excellent road infrastructure, versatility for logistics management and tax benefits, among other of the Region’s competitive advantages, were the reasons to establish the Korean Company LG Electronics’ National Distribution Center in the city of Palmira, Valle del Cauca, being one of the biggest electronic consumption companies in the world. 

This project’s development represented an investment of 11 million dollars and it was the Grupo Zona Franca Bogota-ZFB- (Bogota Free Trade Zone Group*) the one in charge its design and construction which presents with 25 docks for cargo reception and distribution, storage facilities, and a modern administrative area.

“This project is a development and economic growth hub for the Region, thanks to its investment plan of more than 180 direct and 450 indirect employment positions during construction phase and a forecast of nearly 100 hired staff on its operative phase” stated Juan Pablo Rivera Zona Franca Bogota Group Chair.

The South Korean company settled in the Country 18 years ago, and this work represents a great step toward innovation, technology transfer and initiative on a growing market in Colombia with new challenges.

For Fidel Shin, LG Electronics Chair, The National Distribution Center contributes to the Region’s economic development by providing employment and life quality, he also stated that this venue will promote both to empowering the supply chain as well as to keep on strengthening itself as a leading brand in Colombian households.

This new National Distribution Center is expected to begin operations by July 1^st of the current year, and become a milestone to develop new business productive processes in the Region, accounting for the feasibility and support Valle del Cauca responds with to promote this sort of business unit.
