Restoring an icon: TaskUs breathes new life to historic clubhouse in Cali, Colombia
TaskUs (NASDAQ: TASK), a provider of outsourced digital services and next-generation customer experience for innovative companies, joined the call to revive the iconic Club San Fernando in Cali in support of the city’s initiative to revitalize its spaces.
TaskUs and the local government organized the cleanup to give the site a touch of light and color. The property had been left overgrown after many years of neglect, and posters and graffiti had fully covered the remaining perimeter walls.
With help from TaskUs volunteers, the old facility has now been given a much-needed makeover. Vibrant murals have been painted over the freshly cleaned walls, and lighting donated by TaskUs have been installed to brighten up the place. Christened as the Ridiculous Walls, the once unsightly remains of the clubhouse now stand as a worthy homage to the former glory of this historic site.
“Our commitment to social and economic development in Cali is more than just providing work opportunities for talented people. It’s also about contributing to the larger community through programs that engage the public through curiosity, creativity, and collaboration,” Guillermo Ulloa, Vice President of Operations at TaskUs Colombia, said.
Built in 1930, Club San Fernando served as the premier center of life and culture for high society, having played host to major social events. After several decades of financial problems, the property fell into deterioration. Plans to convert it into a shopping mall led to the building being demolished in 2007. The plan never materialized when the land was seized in 2009 by the Attorney-General.
Now the property of the Mayor’s Office, the former club will get a new lease on life. Mayor Jorge Iván Ospina says that Club San Fernando belongs to the people of Cali, and its importance as a social hub offers an opportunity to spur local economy and culture.
“For us as an Administration, this activity is very important. We need to continue beautifying our city to receive tourists during the national and international events that are coming at the end of the year. These are very important events that will greatly contribute to the economic reactivation of Cali. They attract everyone’s attention, which is why it is worth having our house in order. We invite you to support us and participate in this initiative,” said María Fernanda Santa, Secretary of Economic Development of the Mayor’s Office in Cali.
In partnership with Invest Pacific, the site is set to be transformed into an interactive science and technology theme park for the public to enjoy and to boost development for the city.

TaskUs began its operations in Cali, Colombia, last March 2021. The company aims to provide new employment opportunities for the city’s highly educated and bilingual workforce.
