Amazon Customer Service Colombia, hosted its first regional tour in Valle del Cauca
Hundreds of English-speaking Colombians may access formal employment opportunities int the virtual realm, offered by Amazon. The announcement was made during the first regional tour the company held in Colombia searching for more bilingual human resources for its Customer Service operation, hence choosing Valle del Cauca, which so far this year, has shown significant growth in bilingual employment generation.
Amazon offers competitive salaries, and a full package of benefits in addition to those established by the Law, including medical and private dental insurance from day one. The company also offers extended maternity and paternity leave, as well as an excellent work environment with opportunities for career growth and advancement.
The tour through Valle del Cauca was carried out between March 6 and 10, and had an attendance of more than 350 people in five cities: Yumbo, Palmira, Jamundi, Buenaventura, and Cali. It was promoted by Invest Pacific along with the local government, employment agencies, and the academia. Among strategic players that participated, we had the City halls of Yumbo, Palmira, Jamundi, Buenaventura, and Cali; the Chamber of Commerce of Buenaventura, The Valle University, Santiago de Cali University, San Buenaventura University, The Institucion Educativa Mayor de Yumbo, and The Institucion Educativa Antonio Jose Camacho.
“In 2018 we launch operations in Colombia, and from there, we render a world-class service in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, providing assistance to Amazon shoppers from Spain, United States, Mexico, and Brazil. Since Customer Service positions are 100% virtual, we’ve been able to attract bilingual human talent, with staffing in 23 different departments of the country. The Valle del Cauca tour, with our partner Invest Pacific, as well as the support and acceptance of so many cities, is encouraging to keep searching for local bilingual human talent, and to open opportunities for new people to build a successful work history in our Company” stated Gustavo Cadavid, General Manager of Customer Service – Colombia.
Yumbo opened the tour at the Institucion Educativa Mayor de Yumbo, followed by Palmira at the Main Auditorium of its Santiago de Cali University campus. The third day’s venue was the Institucion Educativa Antonio Jose Camacho in Jamundi, and the fourth was Buenaventura’s campus of Valle University. Then finally, the tour ended in Cali, at the San Buenaventura University and the San Fernando campus of Valle University.
“This space of bilingual employability, which is carried out by Amazon for the first time in the country, is yet another sample of the company’s commitment and confidence in the skills of Valle del Cauca’s bilingual human talent. From Invest Pacific we partner and endorse such initiatives that foster the empowerment of our region’s conditions and the access to formal and bilingual employment opportunities”, stressed Alejandro Ossa – Executive Director of Invest Pacific.
During the activity, the attendees were able to complete their on-line registration, interact with the Amazon team, learn about the company’s employment benefits and opportunities, answer questions, and take the English test on that same day, which allows them to apply to the company’s active open positions available for those who master the language.
