According to Alejandro Ossa, Executive Director of Invest Pacific: “We have seen an important surge in all these BPO and IT & Software operations, which demand fluency in English; and that is why, along with the entities from the public and private sector, we continue to reinforce the regional strategies of promotion and attraction of foreign investment, encouraging bilingual skills, which is a fundamental factor for the human talent required for these operations”.
What motivates the companies that are arriving?
Various reasons, one of them has to do with a great advantage that is making Valle del Cauca a competitive and attractive destination for the tech industry: the availability of qualified and bilingual human talent, the service culture and dynamic ecosystems both for BPO and tech companies.
Cali is the location of 4 of the most important IT companies of the country. Furthermore, Etix Everywhere, a Luxembourg company located in Zonamerica, will soon be inaugurating the first TIER IV data center in Colombia, outside Bogota. There are also certified universities, centers of excellence in Big Data and Analytics. And something very interesting: training models in short programs for Software Development, such as: Holberton and DEV.F.
Additionally, Cali has a market saturation level of 2,7%, far below the level of other main capitals of the country, with salary levels of up to 15% more competitive than in other cities of Colombia. These are just some of the reasons why the region continues to consolidate itself as a center for global operations with broad capability to export these types of services.
