Newsletter 30 – Invest Pacific was recognized as one of the best Investment Promotion Agencies in South America

For the second consecutive year, Invest Pacific, the Investment Promotion Agency in the Colombian Pacific, was recognized by Conway’s Site Selection Magazine as one of the best regional investment promotion agencies in South America. This prestigious mention recognized the professionalism, preparedness, staff and leadership of the entity in the promotion of Cali and Valle del Cauca as epicenters of foreign direct investment.

Site Selection Magazine is a bimonthly publication of Conway, a renowned American consulting firm specialized in supporting international expansion projects. Annually this magazine publishes the list known as Top Investment Promotion Agencies, that highlights the best investment promotion agencies in the world. This year, at a regional level in South America, Invest Pacific shares this recognition with Invest In Bogota, the agency that promotes foreign investment in the country’s capital. In the category of national promotion, ProColombia and Invest Chile were recognized.

In the announcement, Adam Jones-Kelly, president of Conway, states that the methodology for classifying investment promotion agencies in this list consisted of conducting surveys of 1.000 experts from different parts of the world, so that, based on a series of variables, they could determine whom they considered being the best at attracting investment to their respective countries or regions.

Among the variables taken into account for this mention is the professionalism in the response to inquiries, the staff possessing the best knowledge and language diversity, the best reputation protecting investor confidentiality and reputation for aftercare services.

In the Top Investment Promotion Agencies publication, Conway highlights Cali and Valle del Cauca’s proximity to more than 72% of the country’s middle-class population and its strategic location, making the city-region the most cost-efficient region to serve the domestic market. It also highlights the excellent quality of life that the city offers at a much lower cost compared to other capital cities such as Bogotá, Santiago de Chile, Mexico City, and Lima.

“This international recognition is a sample of the degree of notoriety and trust that we are achieving as a region and as an entity, before experts in investment attraction strategies at a global level, who highlight the potential of Cali and Valle del Cauca. Precisely, our region has been positioning itself as an ideal place for foreign companies to set up their operations here and expand their business units. In this task, the joint management between the public and private sectors of the region has been essential to continue paying these achievements,” said Alejandro Ossa Cardenas, Executive Director of Invest Pacific.

For eight years Invest Pacific has been promoting foreign investment in the region, contributing to the development and economic growth of Valle del Cauca. To date, more than 100 foreign and domestic companies have arrived in the region with the support of the Agency. These investment and reinvestment projects exceed US$900 million and have generated more than 10,000 jobs.
