Hotel Marriott Open for Business in the Capital of Valle del Cauca
Marriott has opened its 3rd hotel in Colombia in Cali – the city with the 2nd highest potential in the nation after Bogota. This latest Marriott hotel has 8 floors, 2,500 m² and 170 rooms and is a nice complement to the region’s already existing 3,147 hotel rooms.
The El Salvadorian Poma Group ‘Real Hotels and Resorts’ operates the Cali Hotel Marriott – “The Place to Be”: the hub of Valle del Cauca entertainment and business events. The opening night cocktail afforded attendees a true taste of The Marriot Experience.
Fernando Poma, ejective vice-president for Real Hotels and Resorts, presided over the chain’s 3rd hotel opening in Colombia after operations proved successful at their Bogotá Marriott and JW Marriott Bogota hotels in 2009 and 2010 respectively. The Marriott Cali project generated a total of 1,000 jobs and 190 permanent positions at the hotel itself with a total investment of close to US$40 million.
“Real Hotels & Resorts goes through a meticulous market-selection processes before actually starting to carve out in-roads. We patiently wait until all the stars are aligned in our favor and examine a market for demand robust enough to match our targeted value offer, so we can end up setting ourselves apart from our competition. We insist on a solid stable political and legal framework, and look for a market to be truly open and pro private investment, as well as provide an optimal long-term business venue. For Marriott, Colombia and Cali fulfill all those requirements, “ Poma stated.
The Marriott Cali offers a cutting-edge lodging design that effortlessly transforms itself into business and entertainment venues. The hotel’s 170 rooms boast the city’s highest speed 18-MB Internet connection and are outfitted with soundproof windows and blackout blinds, just to name a few of the hotel’s room amenities. Inside “The Place to Be” Cali Marriot is The Market restaurant offering a novel informal culinary experience with an open-concept stone-oven kitchen. Tanoshii Bar offers a nice alternative with its sushi lounge atmosphere.
Colombia’s latest Marriott is in the heart of the city’s entertainment and business quarter – Cali’s bustling Granada district, peppered with gourmet restaurants, designer shops and the very best club and bars, along with stone’s-throw tourist attractions, such as the Ortiz Bridge Promenade, Bolivar Promenade and the Cali Plaza.
María Eugenia Lloreda, Executive Director at Invest Pacific says, “This latest Marriott is very important for the city of Cali. It places us within the international echelons of hotel chains that make Cali a city among cities for business and high-level executives. And it boosts our development potential, not only at home, but also for ministering to Pacific Alliance investors on their way in.”
